ONLINE EDITING
Online editing starts with conforming material at highest possible quality using an offline reference edit and project interchange file (XML, AAF), which describes the editorial decisions and media you need to re-conform at full quality prior to color grading. It is critical to maintain accurate timecode, reel names, and file metadata for keeping track of where footage is located, especially for long-form jobs. Online editing focuses on image quality maintaining technical specifications of related project. If required it can also include detailed effects work, titles, audio levels, time warps, graphics and so on.
COLOR GRADING
Getting it right in camera is one of the most important steps to achieving a great cinematography, but color grading is what can really take your work to entirely new level. Color grading can be one of the most impactful tweaks you can make to your work once it’s been shot. It has the potential to elevate a good image to great, or a great image to outstanding. Color is so important because, like lighting, it affects a mood and feel of a piece, and therefore how we interpret the final image. These days, color is an integral part of film, and it has incredible power over how we perceive the film and the characters.
FINISHING & MASTERING
Finishing is process of giving your film the final polish it needs to make it as seamless and professional as possible prior to mastering and output. A color correction session can also provide noise reduction, image blow up & repositioning, shot stabilization, advanced retiming, film grain emulation and even a beauty work. Many other image manipulation, enhancements and clean-up can also be applied with powerful tools and Plug-In packages. Multiple file-based master deliverables are possible - from DCP and broadcast related formats to specific web services like Vimeo and Youtube.
